PROJECT
Individual Transformation: Work on Structural Racism as a Portal for Community Transformation
This project was developed from a shared interest on behalf of the Fetzer Institute and the Aspen Institute to understand how seminars focused on racial equity can become vehicles for personal transformation.
This project will use the Aspen Institute’s Structural Racism Initiative as a case study to
- review literature on community transformation and the link between individual and community transformation
- conduct extensive interviews with “transformed” individuals, leading scholars, and development leaders
- conduct meetings and dialogues to explore transformation and the role of workshops as catalysts for individual transformation
- write, publish, and disseminate findings from this work.
