Song Composed for Fetzer Event

The Fetzer Institute-presented Global Gathering: A Pilgrimage of Love and Forgiveness inspired connections among its 500 participants, along with a statue, a quartz-based art installation and special scarves for the occasion. In addition, it led to the creation of a theme song for Fetzer's mission of love and forgiveness.

"Love and Forgive," written by Fetzer collaborator Gabriele Palmieri, was recorded by the Italian singing trio Appassionante and debuted in a pair of performances in Assisi, Italy during the Global Gathering. London rapper MysDiggi provides a gritty intro to the recorded version of the song.

It is available for listening or downloading through this page. Some background on the music's creators:

Composer Gabriele Palmieri

Gabriele Irwin Palmieri is a Rome-based composer who started music theory and piano lessons at the age of 6. After many years studying classical and jazz piano, he began the study of composition. While continuing his musical studies, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Roma Tre, and since 2004 has been primarily dedicated to the composition of music for films and documentaries.

In 2006, Palmieri attended a workshop in composition for films at the Academia Musicale Chigiana, led by Academy Award winner Luis Bacalov, where he earned a scholarship and Diploma of Merit. He completed a two year Master’s Degree in Advanced Composition at the Royal College of Music, London, in 2009.

An active member for many years of the Community of Sant'Egidio, Gabriele Palmieri has addressed his volunteer work primarily to the integration of immigrants and gypsy people. As coordinator of the youth musical contest "play music, stop violence" organized by the Community of Sant'Egidio, he has steadfastly oriented his musical production to promote love, peace and solidarity.

Palmieri has collaborated with the Fetzer Institute since late 2010 as event coordinator in Italy for the conference “A Global Gathering: the Pilgrimage of Love and Forgiveness”.

Appassionante

Sopranos Stefania Francabandiera, Mara Tanchis and Giorgia Villa form the musical trio “Appassionante”.

Appassionante's focus is Rome, where the trio originated. The women draw ideas and energy from the life of this eternal city. Their music is marked by a powerful, yet delicate coexistence of pop and classical elements. String instruments go hand in hand with danceable beats. Tradition and experimental gusto always remain in balance. Whether delivering powerful musical moments or quieter interludes, Stefania, Mara and Giorgia playfully and emotionally unite the classical with the modern.

The group has broadened their international recognition since becoming official worldwide spokespersons of the major German airline, AirBerlin, in 2010. Appassionante is currently working on their third album entitled "Nell'Aria", which will be released in spring 2013.

Appassionante has performed around the globe, from South Africa to Singapore, from Mexico to Russia, from Korea to China. They regularly perform on television, and recently took part in a broadcast called "Amore e perdono" on the premiere Italian channel, RAI 1, together with international superstars Andrea Bocelli and Dionne Warwick.

Through more than 100 concert performances per year, Appassionante continues to win over audiences around the world.
