As an educator, you have the opportunity to help students reflect on the important issues of love and forgiveness through the lens of literature.
The Campaign for Love & Forgiveness has several educational resources, including The Mystery of Love DVD and Teaching Guide and two specially created lesson plans that can be used in the middle through high school classrooms, or in any informal educational setting.
The two lesson plans, designed by Ellen Greenblatt, literature teacher from The Bay School in San Francisco, are based on Mark Twain's, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and Firelight, a short story by Tobias Wolf. Use or adapt the lessons to fit your classroom and student needs.
In addition, the Learning to Give Web site, listed below, offers myths and folktales that can be used to initiate discussion on love and forgiveness.
This Web site includes a broad range of myths and folktales, accessible by grade level and origin, which can be used to spark dialogue and reflection about love and forgiveness. The site also includes a Reflection Guide and the ability to search for quotations.
